I was chosen as an artist for the Fledgling Takes Flight in February 2023, a community series that is part of HCC Grounds4Art and NEST (Nourishment, Education, and Social Terraces) initiatives. My project, called “On the Move: Ybor City,” involved developing a toolkit for a movement workshop that toured around Ybor City.
The toolkit consisted of two sets of cards: one with simple body movements and another with historical locations in Ybor City. Participants would select movement cards, create dance sequences, and then perform them at the historic sites while exploring Ybor City. My goal is to inspire people to move and dance by demonstrating that anyone can do it.
